I was introduced to Yoga in 1993 taking a Kundalini Yoga course my
first year in college just for the extra credit! I was amazed at the clarity
of mind and the greater flexibility and strength I felt. The practice was
very healing for me at a time in my life when I carried not only the
concerns of a young adult but also grief from the sudden death of my
wonderful father. I continued taking classes throughout my college
years, finding Iyengar Yoga and committing to a more regular practice.
Having started out barely being able to touch my toes, soon I was
almost in the splits! I also felt an reassuring sense of connectedness with
my inner wisdom the wisdom of the Universe.

After those first years my practice waxed and waned depending on my
studies and my work schedule, but Yoga always drew me back and
every time I recommitted I wondered why I had ever let my practice
dwindle.

After pre-natal Yoga and the birth of my daughter I again found my way
back to the mat, discovering Anusara Yoga purely by accident upon the
recommendation of my dear friend. (Thanks Amy!) My first Anusara
class with the inspirational Katchie Ananda was like a homecoming to
me.
The combination of meditative insight and celebratory practice
along with the familiar alignment work from the Iyengar style was the
Yoga I had been looking for even though I didn't know I was looking
for it.

As they say, the rest is history and I can truly say I love what I do. I look
forward to sharing some of my discoveries with you and to learning
with you.

Inspiration and Interests...
Although raised with eastern philosophies at home, I attended Catholic
school from kindergarten through eighth grade. This  fortunate pairing
led me to a life-long interest in world religions, and philosophies of
every kind including modern physics.

At the same time that I discovered yoga in 1993, I discovered natural
medicine and since then have been studying the use of herbs and food as
medicine. My fascination with the relationship between people and
nature sprouted in these studies and led me to a degrees in
Anthropology and Ecology. I am a whole-hearted proponent of all
things organic, non-toxic, and sustainable, and strive constantly to find
and support new ways to live more lightly on the earth.

With much gratitude, I would like to acknowledge my gracious teachers
and of course, all their teachers:
Jim and Ruthie Bernaert - Anusara Yoga
Carlos Pomeda - Yoga philosophy
Katchie (Ananda) Gaard - Anusara Yoga
Alice Rocky - Iyengar Yoga
My family, friends, and every student - Living Yoga
