Descriptions of Past Mini-retreats:

Ojas: Building your Reservoir of Health
Sunday, Nov. 8th 1-5:00 p.m.
Seventh Heaven Yoga Studio , Berkeley

Ojas
is a Sanskrit word that means "vigor". According to the principles of Ayurveda, it is the essential energy of the body that can be
equated with the "fluid of life”. Ojas is like sap, the fluid of one's life energy which, when sufficient, is equated with immunity and,
when deficient, results in weakness, fatigue and ultimately disease.

The constant demands of modern life take a very concrete toll on all of our body’s systems, especially it’s ability to heal and repair.
During this mini-retreat you will have a chance to rest deeply, and experience Yoga practices that strengthen your Ojas, and your
body’s innate ability to heal. We will explore Yogic breathing practices, restorative yoga postures, and guided meditation. Discussion
will address how the nervous and immune systems relate to each other, and how to incorporate easy daily practices to build and
maintain your reservoir of health.

As a Certified Aromatherapist, I will introduce essential oils that reduce stress and boost the immune and nervous systems. A selection of
my handmade essential oil remedies will also be available for purchase.

Since all the practices in this mini-retreat are restorative in nature, yoga students and non-yoga students will be equally comfortable.
If you have someone in your life that is chronically stressed, or in need of some deep healing, invite them along!

Sound, Silence & Stillness
Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010
1-5 p.m.
Berkeley Yoga Studio

In the Taoist tradition, the image of winter is one of a solitary journey to the top of a mountain to commune with one’s Source and
reflect on one’s Highest Purpose.  Rather than struggling to keep resolutions, mid-winter is a time to contemplate what we wish to grow
in the coming year. By meditating on our intentions now, come spring we will have the necessary energy and focus to put these
intentions into action.

This mini-retreat will create the space and sanctuary you need to connect with your Highest Purpose, and to envision your coming
year. Through mantra, sound, gentle yoga postures, breathing practices, and meditation, we will cultivate the stillness needed to be
able to see our path clearly, and the equanimity needed to face any obstacles with grace and openness.

As a certified holistic Aromatherapist, I will introduce essential oils that clear help clear mental and emotional blockages, and increase
intuitive awareness. A selection of my handmade essential oil remedies will also be available for purchase.

What we focus on, so we become. In spring, like all living things, we are called to focus on
expansion and transformation. Adjusting our inner focus and outer actions to the changing
energies of the seasons allows a profound self-healing wisdom to arise.

Come! Expand into your radiant potential and honor the sanctity of life
that moves through you, as you. All levels welcome.

Combining the tools of yoga posture, breath, meditation, essential oils, and Elemental
awareness, Nicole creates a sacred space for self-healing and joyous connection between the
inner and outer practices. A selection of Nicole’s handmade therapeutic essential oil remedies
will be available for purchase after the retreat.
